Software
I like to spend time exploring new software technologies. Once in a while, such exploration might result in
some small little software. I shall put some of them here once they are considered "usable".
of the system.
[2004 Feb] I was working on a small agent program called MSNBot that acts as ur buddy in your MSN Messenger and
is able to provide several services, such as news feeding, Chinese-English/English-Chinese translation,
and Google search. If you would like to talk to the bot, add "wiccap_bot @ hotmail.com" into your contact. It is,
however, not always online. I suppose bots also need take a rest.

Articles
From time to time, I might write short articles about some of the new technologies that I play with.
These are more industrial styles of writing, rather different from those academic ReSearch papers.
I put them here to share my experiences.

Conference Management Software
In year 2002 and 2003, I was in charge of maintaining the conference paper submission system for
WISE 2002,
ICADL 2002, and
WIDM 2003.
The system that I used is ConfMan.
Based on the different requirements from the PC chairs, I have added into the ConfMan system several new features,
including:
- paper preference indication by reviewers
- automated paper assignment based on reviewers' preference
- detecting papers authored by PC members
- ordering paper by rating weighted by reviewers' familarity
- accepting paper as different types: long, short, poster, etc
- configurable template based email content with parameters
This ConfMan system with improved features was also used (but not maintained by me) in
WIDM 2002,
ISI 2003 and
ER 2004.
If you intend to use this improved ConfMan for your conference/workshop, please contact me
for a updated copy of the system.

Wei Qi (围棋)
I am an amateur WeiQi player.
WeiQi is an ancient Chess game originated from China long time ago (//TODO find out how long).
I enjoy playing WeiQi, although it is, by modern standard, considered as a luxury game, in terms of the time
that it takes - to play one game takes about a few hours to 2 days.
I played at the university level NTU WeiQi Open championships for four years without winning a champion.
My best records were Runner-up in year 2000 and 2001.
However, those results were good enough to get me selected into the team representing NTU to paly in the annual
Inter-Varsity-Polytechnic (IVP) games, where teams from NTU, NUS and the (then) 4 ploytechnics come together to
compete at team level. We won two gold medals and two silver medals during the four years that I participated.
And I was captain of the team in year 1999.
